The aim of my posters is to raise awareness about the unequal treatment of historical Maori sites. Specifically, how sites with important connections to Maori are allowed to be built over, therefore destroying the historical and cultural connections. Through both my posters I chose to juxtapose the image of a Marae and a building material. I chose to use a Marae as it is an important focal point of Maori societies making it highly recognisable while still holding a deep importance within the culture. In poster one I used collage and layering a city over a Marae as a visual technique. By the way I styled the city and by my choice of colour it creates a blueprint look that reflects a plan to build over the Marae. For my second poster I used a hammer to represent the building concept. I used scale to push the emotive message in the image as the hammer looks big and powerful while the Marae is small and helpless. I chose to style this poster using an illustrative technique that was simplistic so that the message was bold and impactful yet easy to see and understand.
